Many gems are produced from metallic minerals containing elemental metals as the main part of their chemistry. These gems contain elemental metals such as copper, cobalt, iron, lead, nickel, platinum, titanium and zinc. Others, such as gold and silver, are native elements. Some gems, such as Campbellite and Mohawkite, are a conglomeration of several metals and other minerals. |
