Schlossmacherite is named in honor of Professor Emeritus Karl Schlossmacher (1887–1980), Institute for Mineralogy and Petrography, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany and Honorary President of the German Gemmological Society.

Schlossmacherite is a very rare secondary mineral in the oxidized zone of a copper-bearing gold deposit at the Emma Luisa gold mine, Guanaco district, about 100 km east-northeast of Taltal, Antofagasta, Chile. This is the only location in the world for Schlossmacherite. It is found as polycrystalline aggregates and crusts of pale green to grayish green.

Schlossmacherite

A very rare gem from the Emma Luisa Mine, Guanaco (Huanaco), Santa Catalina, Antofagasta Province, Antofagasta Region, Chile with beautiful moss green color. This is the only gem I have seen that is pure Schlossmacherite and not mixed with Ceruleite or other minerals.

Ceruleite-Schlossmacherite

A beautiful combination of two very rare minerals: Ceruleite (blue) and Schlossmacherite (green). Ceruleite is only found at a few localities worldwide and Schlossmacherite is found only at the Emma Luisa Mine, Guanaco, Santa Catalina, Antofagasta Province, Chile. I love the combination of robin's egg blue and moss green!

 

 

I love Sarah
